Diseases Caused By Household Products Worse Than Smoking

It is somewhat ironic that the products that we use to make our homes clean and “healthy”, could, actually, be making us sick. Below are two articles recently published that indicate, exactly that.

It studied more than 6,000 people for over a 20-year period, so the results would seem to be more than just a little conclusive. The point it makes is that cleaning your home (or office areas) with the caustic domestic and cleaning products that most of us use could be as bad for us as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day for over 20 years.

Are the products effective? Maybe not. Yet the damage to the lungs and body certainly is. If you are continuing, even after reading this, at least read the labels for the ingredients. Ammonia, chlorine bleach and formaldehyde are just a few of the chemical “villains” you should be aware of.

These chemicals can deteriorate your health over a long period of time, and even though these articles and study are focused on lung deterioration, there are many other long-term effects to your cardiovascular health and the development of other serious diseases.

If you are like I am, and can’t resist the pleasant aroma and accelerated cleaning power of a cleaner, look for effective products that contain NONE of the dangers of traditional cleaners. A good indicator is the absence of “child-proof” packaging. There are products that are developed with natural and safe-science ingredients. How do I know?  I found them and they are amazing!

Tea Tree Oil Success Stories

Collected by RMBarry (www.rmbarry.com)
A friend at work passed by my desk in tears and I stopped her to ask what I could help with. She said that she had shingles over her chest area and that the prescription from the doctor was not helping and that she was going to the restroom — again — to apply cold paper towels to help with the itching and pain, and to apply more of the prescription cream. I gave her my emergency (unopened) bottle of Tea Tree Oil and she proceeded to the restroom. Within 15 minutes she stopped at my cubical and said: “Oh my goodness – that Tea Tree Oil stopped the terrible pain and itching almost before I could wash my hands and put the cap back on the bottle!” I smiled and gave her a sample of RENEW. The next day, she reported that the previous night she took a shower when she arrived home from work, applied the RENEW after the shower, and then more Tea Tree Oil before bedtime . . . and the same “this morning.” She hugged me (carefully) and said that she had NO itching or pain from the shingles and that they were actually smaller and less “hot and red.”

I have used Melaleuca Oil T36-C5 oil for years and have always been happy with the results. I have used it personally and with family to resolve many issues including: diaper rash and eczema (5mL with 4 ounces of olive oil). I have also used it undiluted for nail fungus, sore muscles, cuts, burns, in a diffuser to clean the air and relieve “viral” flare-ups. I have used it in a spray bottle with Sol-U-Mel to freshen and disinfect the air, and to spray toothbrush after each use (5mL with 1 ounce of Sol-U-Mel in 16 ounce sprayer bottle). I have used it in the bathtub with Sol-U-Mel for a “squeaky clean” bathing experience (7 drops with 1-2 ounces of Sol-U-Mel).

I became a customer simply to try the Renew lotion since I have very dry skin-feet that sometimes crack… So my first purchase was the Renew Lotion, and immediately I started using it on my feet every night with socks on. Within 3 days my feet were almost completely clear, but in the summer my feet are dryer than winter. I’m thinking too much exposure to the sun, beach and always wearing flip-flops. They crack and hurt to walk in them. I continued to use Renew, but also added the tea tree oil mixed together and instantly it soothed the burning. I ran out of my MelaPower laundry detergent this summer also, and bought some generic brand that was supposed to be clear and free of harsh chemicals, but I broke out in hives all over my face and neck, and then my arms!! It was so awful!! The doctor prescribed steroids and Benadryl, but it just made it worse when I went out in the sun and I was so sleepy. My rash lasted 2 weeks. Then, I started using the Renew and the Tea Tree Oil mix again, and within 3 days my rash was completely gone!!

I used Tea Tree Oil for multiple wasp stings on my head. I had to go volunteer at our after-school church program in 15 minutes, when this happened. The pain stopped and I put on a hat and made it to my program on time. Productivity up and pain gone. Love the stuff!

I just love  T36-C5 Tea Tree Oil. Years ago, I skinned my shin when I slipped off the rear bumper of a 1974 pickup truck. OUCH! The only product I had available at the time was T37-C7. I put it on my owie, and the pain was gone. The next day when I looked at it, I had a circular bruise around the owie! Where the oil was, there was NO bruise! So 3 years ago, I was with my mom when she fell. I whipped out my T36-C5 oil and applied it liberally to everywhere she may have hurt herself. It took her pain away. The next day she was sharing her fall with someone and neither of them could find her bruises that should have accompanied her fall. She lost her bragging rights that should have gone along with her fall.  And thank you RM Barry for publishing our stories. I learn so much from your Melaleuca Wellness Guide.

We have used tea tree oil for everything from lice, toothaches, migraine headaches, allergies, bug bites, and congestion to just name a few. My favorite tea tree oil testimony to share is how it cured my strep throat. My throat was so infected with those little white puss pockets, and so sore for a week. Antibiotics wouldn’t touch it, it was that bad. I was afraid to talk because every time my tongue would move it felt like someone was cutting my throat with razor blades. My mentor told me to try the Tea Tree Oil . I swabbed the back of my throat and gargled with Melaleuca oil throughout the day. The pain stopped within minutes after applying. By the second day my throat was healed. I didn’t realize that, if you let strep go without getting it taken care of, it could get into your bloodstream and you can actually die from it. So any time my throat starts to hurt I swab it with Melaleuca oil.

I am very afraid of catching a cold! I have a low immune system and this is one of my tea tree tips: I use a tiny bit, a few drops of tea tree oil under and just inside my nostrils, if I have a cold coming on. And I breathe a bit of steam. It seems to “deliver” Tea Tree Oil as a vapor into my system. Of course I use the mouthwash, but if I have a sore throat, I add just a drop of tea tree oil to the mouthwash. I only use Melaleuca Alternifolia tea tree oil. The cheap junk has eucalyptus oil and irritates my skin. I also use it if I have a cold sore… Totally it works!

~ Merritt

My very first use of Tea Tree Oil felt miraculous! I was at the birthday party of my 4 year old grandson at a park by the Mississippi River. Though I didn’t know it, I had been bitten by a Buffalo Gnat. Suddenly I realized that my whole chin was numb as well as my lower gums. I was a new oil customer and had just received a bottle of Melaleuca oil the day before. I ran to my car to get it, applied it on my chin—not knowing what to expect. Within 5 minutes, the numbness was completely gone. There was no itching at the site at all. I was amazed at the fast acting power of this simple treatment! More recently, I used The Melaleuca Wellness Guide to help me with a sinus infection. I followed the instructions exactly, breathing over a pan of hot water, Sol-U-Mel and Melaleuca oil for 20 minutes, and again, I found RELIEF! No doubt, using this pure effective essential oil, in some cases, spares me the time, money and trouble of going to the doctor’s office.

I experienced a severe burn on the palm area of my hand. I had just turned on the dishwasher and immediately heard a knocking noise. I opened the door to find a water bottle cap in the bottom of the dishwasher. I reached in to remove it and, in the process, touched the heat coil in the bottom. The burn was bad enough that the skin immediately turned white. I remembered reading that Tea Tree Oil was good for burns. I applied several drops to the area and followed with a layer of Renew Lotion. The pain was bad enough that I thought that I might end up in the emergency room. I continued to apply both over the next couple of hours. The pain began to subside and it never did form a blister. Thanks to Tea Tree Oil no scaring or any sign of ever having a burn. I tell everyone that Tea Tree Oil should be in their medicine cabinet.

Contamination in Cosmetics

We all know that we have to take care with what we put IN our bodies. It is not as evident that we must take care of what we put ON our bodies, as well. Recently, news came to light about asbestos discovered in cosmetic products at Claire’s stores. They were quickly removed from the shelves.

There are other dangers that can be associated with cosmetics and other beauty products. We assume that government regulations are protecting us, but as the article below points out, The F.D.A. has only 6 inspectors to monitor the millions of cosmetic shipments coming into the U.S. each year.

I have included two articles below (of which there are many) that point out some of the risks that we take when using cosmetics and other beauty products. The majority of imported products are safe, but a surprising number of those imports (15-20%) led to adverse findings. Among the problems found were bacterial contamination, illegal color additives and unsafe chemical substances like mercury were discovered.

The problem is that the F.D.A. does so few inspections of imports (less than 0.3 percent) from South Korea, China, India, Canada, and France that it is impossible to predict how widespread the problems really are.

The government is attempting to get more control over the problems. Yet for now, the best anyone can do to protect themselves is to purchase and use domestically produced personal care products from companies that use the highest standards for approval methods. I’m proud to be associated with a company that applies only the highest standards in their ingredient formulation and manufacturing processes. For the safety of myself and my family, I choose to use products that have already been proven safe and effective.

Is is a cold or the flu?

‘Tis the season for runny noses, itchy eyes, fever, and headaches. You have the flu…or is it a cold? It can be confusing. The bulletin linked below from Prevention Magazine can help you differentiate.

The flu hits you quickly and dramatically. You will often run a fever above 101F; it is accompanied by body aches and fatigue. You may have some other symptoms that “mock” the common cold, but you should seek treatment from your doctor within 48 hours of the onset.

Your cold symptoms are most commonly above the neck, but the common cold is not only caused by the rhinovirus but by any of two hundred other viruses. It is most effectively treated with over the counter “symptom-relievers”. You must be careful, however, not to mix multiple products, which can cause toxification.

Your flu, if that is your diagnosis, is most effectively treated by a physician prescribed anti-viral medication, but as I said earlier, it should come within 48 hours of your symptoms presenting themselves.

The best defense is an offense in the form of a healthy diet, adequate hydration and exercise. Naturally, avoid environments that may expose you to unreasonable risks of infection. You may also want to consider a regime of preventive supplements. My company develops and manufactures a full line of the purest, highest quality preventatives available. Take special care during the holidays and the winter and stay healthy.

MATURING SKIN

Usually, at about the age of 50, we experience some significant changes in the character of our skin. Bruising occurs, usually on our hands and forearms, but many times on our feet, ankles and our calves. Our face and neck begin to lose volume as well. It is called aging.

There are some things you can do to slow down, arrest and even reverse this process. As the body ages, the ability of the body to produce Collagen is reduced. There are some creams and serums that can help, sometimes significantly. The most effective way to reverse Collagen loss is, not surprisingly, from within.

Collagen is the most abundant protein in our bodies, especially type 1 Collagen is found in our skin obviously, but it is also in the makeup of our bones muscles, tendons, gut, blood vessels and even our teeth, But for this discussion, as Collagen production is reduced, it leaves us with sagging skin, wrinkles, and joint pain.

As the available Collagen in our skin is diminished, the skin thins. It tears more easily on the outside, causing wounds and on the inside causing sometimes unexplainable bruising that is ugly and many times enduring. Since Collagen is so vital to the many inner-workings of our bodies, why not encourage your body to produce more collagen with some natural Collagen boosters.

Your diet is one way. Foods like blueberries, dark leafy greens, garlic, eggs, mangoes, carrots, sweet potatoes and white tea, all stimulate the production of Collagen. In addition, take hydration serious and drink plenty of water.

Vitamin supplementation with vitamin C and A, as well as B-12 and even amino acids, will aid your body in manufacturing more Collagen. The attached bulletin from MEDILINE will tell you more. As you choose your supplementation regime, remember that the quality of your vitamins and other elements like the aminos, does make a difference.

THE HISTORY (AND THE MIRACLE) OF TEA TREE OIL

Natural tea tree essential oil has been a legend for over 70 years. It is a natural essential oil, which has a plethora of applications in a natural environment. It has been used as a traditional medicine for many years.

The incredible numbers of applications of tea tree oil are truly amazing. In the days gone by even pirates would port in Australia to take advantage of the melaleuca alternifolia plant, either as a tea or a poultice, that would cure everything from digestive problems to foot fungus.

In 2010, there were reports released that tea tree oil (TTO) may play a prominent role in treating skin cancers, both Basal Cell and Melanoma. It is important to note that the “freshness” and quality of the distillation of the oil itself has much to do with its efficacy, but all indications point toward the incredible results for everything from cold sores to minor skin abrasions.

My own experiences with tea tree oil never cease to amaze me. As I age, skin abrasions come from “nowhere”. Applying tea tree oil for several days, not only heals the abrasion but also eliminates the perpetual bruising that occurs and endures.

The company where I shop was a pioneer in the pure distillation of tea tree essential oil and now provides dozens of the purest and most diverse essential oils available. Most importantly, they are the most affordable and effective you will be able to find anywhere. Tea tree oil should be an essential in your medicine cabinet.

Making Your Clothes Last Longer

Let’s face it. Clothes are expensive. Whether it’s men’s or women’s clothing, the prices are daunting no matter where you purchase them. First, don’t hesitate to shop around and try not to be impulsive. Make sure you really need what it is you are about to purchase. OK, you can indulge yourself from time to time.

The attached article offers some interesting, useful and sometimes surprising tips to make your clothes last longer. It points out that the best start is to carefully read the care label. If you have the place or space, hang your clothes to dry.

My company developed and manufactures laundry products including a detergent that is based on natural enzyme cleaning agents and it really is the WOW. The balance of the laundry suite of products is also naturally based.

No matter what your income, you can save money on great clothing by shopping responsibly and taking care of those clothes you love.
